Tutorial 2: Installation

The program offers three different installation options:

• Variant A. with a local database

• Variant B. with a central MySQL database

• Variant C. with a hosted MySQL database

For all variants, a client program must first be installed on a workstation.

To install the client program you simply have to start the existing installation file (under Windows the file is called „install_port_Vx.xx_en.exe“, , under the other operating systems the file name can be different). The program is installed by default under the directory „c:\Program Files (x86)\Temia_business_en\“ installiert. When the program is started for the first time, the program settings are automatically created under the directory „c:\Users\\AppData\Roaming\Temia_Portal\“.

Once you start the client program for the first time after installation, a dialog appears to set the location of the user data:

Variant A. with a local database

If you select the option "Local database", an empty database will be created locally in the user directory. This will be initialized with the required data during the first user login.

This option is ideal if you want to get started quickly.

Variante B. with a central MySQL database

If you select the "Central database" option, you can enter the access data for a MySQL database. In this case, multiple users can work in parallel.

The MySQL database must be installed before and be accessible on the network.

The following parameters must be entered:

URL Unique path to the database
DB-User This is a MySQL technical user who has access to the database.
DB-Password MySQL user's password

The specified MySQL database must be empty when you first start. This is automatically initialized during the first user login with the required data.

Installing a MySQL database

Here are installation instructions from MySQL:

Variant C. with a hosted MySQL database

As an alternative to variant B and even if you do not want to run your own MySQL database, you can rent a third-party MySQL database. In this case we recommend using our hosting service (see chapter „S-3 Hosting MySql“).
